November Free Motion Quilting Challenge

I had fun with this month's Sew Cal Gal Free Motion Quilting Challenge.

The expert this month is Sarah Vedeler, and the challenge was creating swirls. I tried different sizes and the variation.

This was the last square of my sample quilt, and since it was a 8" x 16" I decided to add a feather with some swirls too. I used 50Wt thread for quilting the feather and echo, and then 100Wt thread for the background swirls and lines.

Another great challenge and it was fun to try something new. Thanks Sew Cal Gal and Sarah Vedeler!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

I have recently been getting messages on Blogger, when I am uploading pictures, about having used all my photo storage space, and that I would have to buy more space - and then the next time I have no problems uploading pictures. Does any one else get that message? Or know anything about that. I don't want to have to start paying to have a blog.

Your swirls are beautiful Joanne. The feather works well with the swirls. Bravo, very well done.

Yep got that message but not able to load photos at all. Apparently it is legit, but I too refuse to pay to blog. Apparently it is the size of the photos that is part of the problem, under a certain size they are "Free" but if over then they add up to the 1GB we are allowed. However I dont know how to delete unwanted photos to regain space, i tried by deleting extra photos in my quilt gallery and it made no difference. I have also been told (comment on my last post re this issue) that you can email photos to your blog, but I dont know how to do this either!! I have tried reading blogger help but only confuses me more!

I don't know how you can get rid of them - but you can upload your pictures to flikr or picasa or another of those "storage" communuitites and then link those pictures.

Most of the programms will proide you with an HTML-Code for your picture (usually somewhere in the areas of "share") if you can find it basically it's:

(img src="picture URL" alt="Name/ Description"/) switch the round brackets with < and >
, pointy brackets

In that case the picture won'T link anywhere - and as there is limited space in the comments - just let me know if you have more questions.

I had the same message. I didn't want to delete photos, so I started a new blog.

Oops! I forgot to say how beautiful your swirls are. I've only been reading your blog for a few weeks and I love it!

Your quilting is very nice. I still need to do this month's challenge. Thanks for the reminder.
I received that message quite a while ago. I couldn't load any photos. I did purchase more space, but wonder what other alternatives I might have had.

Beautiful block!!
I was getting that message too and was very frustrated as I didn't know what to do. I saw that there were albums in my Picassa that I hadn't put there - generic ones perhaps but I couldn't delete them I ended up paying for the extra space but would have liked to have been able to work around it without paying!!

Great quilting! Yep, I got the message too. You can also join Google+ (Similar to facebook) and then create an album there with your photos and then share from it. I think this whole issue stems from Google wanting to increase traffic in there other networks. Bah humbug! Good luck!

Lovely circles Joanne...I have not had a problem with space at present.. Maybe it has something to do with the size of each photo. I am not sure how many pixels per photo are allowed - but I go into Photoshop ...mostly my photos have about 3800 pixels...and I reduce those to mostly 700 pixels... and then they are very quick to upload. At the most I sometimes make the 1000 pixels...but they are usually 700. You can have a domain name for US$10.00 per year...that seems quite reasonable... If I could just work out WordPress - that my be better... but I am a bit thick and its a difficult one for me, though I sure have tried.

Your swirls and feathers look great. I am wondering though where you get your 100 weight thread for your finer quilting designs. I've been looking at my local quilt shops and Joanns without success. I'd appreciate the direction to purchase some.

I don't want to pay to play with blogger either!
As for blogger error messages, I'm not having those problems and hope I don't. Though I'm unsure of how many pictures I've shared through the blog perhaps I didn't reach that milestone. lol Jane

I'm not very good at machine quilting - perhaps I should work on the monthly challenge. Your feather looks wonderful.

I got the same message so deleted some of my older posts. I also started reducing the size of my pictures before I post. Silly me thought Blogger did that automatically. I guess not!

Joanne,
I love the swirls and especially love the feather with a few swirls in it! I have to try these. About the picture space - I got that message also right when I was trying to get my picture of the day posted for my 366 blog. I went ahead and bought the extra storage. I figured it was the fact that my pictures are so large. I had no idea you could make them smaller before posting. I may give that a try.

I did have to buy some space once, but I got sooo much I doubt I'll ever have to again.
I love quilting swirls, yours look great!
