This week I have been having fun with the 4" squares that I won on Sunday.
I was inspired by Kathleen Tracy (A Sentimental Quilter) and her free doll quilt patterns.
This first mini-quilt is made by cutting the 4" squares into four to make the nine-patches. I had some coordinating fat quarters (DH bought them in California) and a little bit of fabric leftover from another quilt to complete it.
I am quilting feathered wreaths on this mini quilt. I used a Clover white marking pen to mark the centers on the dark fabric (I traced around the end of an Aurifil thread spool), I always think the pen doesn't work, but the white appears as the ink dries. The marks are removed by ironing.
I don't usually mark but I wanted the wreaths to be even. I am using Invisafil for the free motion quilting on this mini quilt.
For this mini quilt I just made half square triangles with the leftover 4" squares.
I quilted ¼" lines with Aurifil thread and a walking foot, because I wanted to emphasis the diagonal lines.
I then free motion quilted swirls (from Carla Barret) in the channels with the same Aurifil thread.
This month's EQ block came out (you don't need EQ to make this, all the patterns are available for free download).
All the 6" blocks so far. These are really quick and fun to make.
I am hoping that this is a sign that spring is on its way - a flock of birds migrating through (I think they are cedar waxwings - maybe they are always around and I never see them? I can always hope!!)
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!!♥
