New Wallhanging

This month I made a wallhanging using more pieces of cross stitch that my Dad stitched.

The wallhanging is about 28"x35".

I made this one for my parents.

I free motion quilted it with Essential Pro thread from Connecting Threads.
I used a layer of cotton and a layer of wool batting so the wallhanging would be flat but puffy. I just stitched in the ditch around the pieces of embroidery.
The cross stitch designs are from the book Repertoire des Motifs by Valerie Lejeune.

Photos from around-

No wind.

A couple of Yellowlegs in the pond (right edge).

An August Finish and a September one too

I made a new bag-

This one is for the game Rummikub.

The bag fits all the tiles and the stands.

Plus it is very easy to pick out the tiles when playing.

The pattern is one that I have made before from this Japanese magazine.
The fabric is from Japan too - my son picked it out on our last trip.

This is the bag with lots of modifications. My modified pattern is basically a 7.5" circle, and an 8"x23" rectangle, plus seam allowances. For the lining I cut the rectangle 17"x23".

This gnome is something I made in August. The pattern is Nice to Gnome You by Sarah Schira - it was a mystery knit along. I used leftover commercial sock yarn for this one, since the yarn was all held double and I wasn't sure it would work in handspun (I thought my uneven spinning would be more noticeable). Like the other mystery gnomes I have made this was lots of fun - something to look forward to every few days.

Since it has been so long since I last blogged there are lots of photos from around-

There has been amazing storm clouds.
The canola field around our property was cut (then harvested).
Still lots of canning! All those little jars are 16 pounds of tomatoes.
Some pasta sauce, pizza sauce, and ketchup (for the first time and it won't be the last, I don't think I could eat commercial ketchup again - it's amazing recipe link I made a half recipe).
Misty sunrise.
I think she is lecturing her on how to behave.
Molly is 11 months old now.
Miss Maggie.
A dewy spider web.

All the best!♥︎
