End of March Roundup

Last week I quilted this tumbler lap quilt -

It started as a fat quarter pack and was cut using the GO!. I quilted an all over meander (it seems to be a much maligned quilting pattern, but sometimes it is the perfect design). I had pieced the quilt top last summer, and it is nice to have it finished.

This is my Art Quilt of the Month for March -

I used some of my first home spun wool, and couched it down to a piece of rust dyed fabric. I quilted feathers on it since I have been working on a FMQ feathers tutorial this month. The little quilt is 6"x8".

I have been doing spinning -

Silk and Merino all the way from Australia.
Thanks Joan!

These skeins are drying after being washed -

The bottles (for weight) help set the twist while they dry.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

I love the tumbler. I have two pieced tumbler tops and am trying to decide on the quilting. One is a 30s and the other was done using Grace from Moda. I quilted a doll size tumbler by using a 1/4 inch seam on either side of every seam and it really turned out nice. I am thinking about in-the-ditch or all over stippling, perhaps one of each since I have two tops. Yours is gorgeous!

Good on you with getting the Tumbler quilt done! Your little art quilt is very classy!1 I like the way you are using the things you are making/dyeing/spinning - I guess that is what makes it very current. I'll be interested to see how your dyed wool comes out. Have a good week!

Love that tumbler quilt. I agree with you about the meander stitch. I did a tumbler a few years ago and asked my then LAQ to do a meander stitch and she had to be convinced. I just think it fits the quilt.

I just used my tumbler die too (small one) to cut out a "kit" from leftover fabrics that I already made into a quilt, I should have enough for a baby/lap quilt!
