My Quilting Classes

I would love to teach your quilting group.

Here are the classes that I offer -

Beginning Free Motion Quilting on a Domestic Sewing Machine

In this beginner free motion quilting class my goal is to get people comfortable quilting their quilt tops on their home sewing machines.

Three quilting design elements, and their variations will be taught in this class.

This class is suitable for an absolute beginner, or some one with basic quilting skills ready to expand their quilting repertoire.

I have realized that one of the main stumbling blocks for beginner quilters is determining "What to quilt, and Where". Therefore I have made this one of the main focuses of the class. With the three quilting design elements that students will learn in this class, they should develop the confidence to quilt any of their pieced quilt tops.

Other topics that are covered in this class are batting, threads, and marking quilts.

Intermediate Free Motion Quilting on a Domestic Sewing Machine

This class expands on the previous beginner class by introducing two more quilting design elements and their variations.

This class is suitable for quilters wanting to add an artistic component to their quilts. The additional quilting design elements in this class will help students expand on the "What to quilt, and Where".

Note:
I can teach the above two classes as a combined weekend workshop. However, for absolute beginners I would recommend that there is an extended period of time between the classes, to give students the opportunity to get comfortable with machine quilting.
These classes can be customized to suit your group.

Artistic Free Motion Quilting

A more advanced class focusing on quilting decorative free form feathers. This is a class for people comfortable with free motion quilting their quilts, but who want to step up to a more artistic way of quilting to create stand alone works of art. The class discusses ways to create your own personal style of quilted feathers. Various quilted background fillers will also be included.

Invisible Machine Appliqué

Invisible machine appliqué mimics needle turned appliqué by hand.

In teaching this class I will be using my own beginner appliqué, mug rug pattern. There is also the option for me to design a pattern specifically for your group.
