France - Day 4

Montmartre and Sacre Coeur today -

the Moulin Rouge near the metro station

we walked the back way and had a long walk up a steep road (hard to tell from the picture)

a windmill on the way

first glimpse of Sacre Coeure

the view of Paris from Sacre Coeur

Sacre Coeur from the bottom of the hill, we walked down the steps

back to the Metro we passed all kinds of fabric stores

this one was beautiful, it had a wall of buttons that was amazing

even a "patchwork" room (didn't buy anything - I'm travelling light)

for supper we had fallafels at this highly recommended spot on the Rue des Rosiers

Views on our evening walk -

France - Day 3

Today we went to the Louvre (we didn't go inside -very long lines, the young uninterested men with us, and the fact that my DH and myself have been before - it didn't make sense this time).

We walked around the gardens -

L'Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel

Place de la Concorde with L'Arc de Triomphe in the distance

Next we walked in a shopping district -

St Marie Madeleine on the way

In the afternoon we walked around the Marais again -

the National Archives

to the Pompidou Center (a modern art museum - once again we didn't go inside - we just wanted to see outside the building). All the pipes, elevators etc. are on the outside -

the back

and the front

Align Centera fountain out front
A walk back to the apartment -

Rue des Rosiers

France - Day 2

Day 2 of Paris started with a trip on the Metro (we have passes for the week, so easy) -

to the Tour Eiffel -

Then another Metro ride to L'Arc de Triomphe -

A stroll down the Champs Elysees -

of course with 3 men we had to stop at every car showroom on the way - this is the Citroen one (notice the cool dashboard)

every floor had a car on the red platform

an ice cream cart

In the afternoon we walked around Le Marias where we are staying.

St Paul

Hotel de Sully (my three men)

this is a mirror store - since 1826, all they sold was mirrors

Colonne de Juillet, honors the victims of the 1830 revolution. It is at the site of the Bastille.

The next few are from Place des Vosges, one of the first squares in Paris, it is surrounded by art galleries -

Next we walked back and then along the Seine -

To Notre Dame Catherdral -

Saw Love Locks on a nearby bridge -

On the way back to the apartment we stopped for ice cream on the Ile St Louise -

it is supposed to be the best in Paris (it was very good, didn't top last year in Italy though).

In the evening we went back to Notre Dame -

Another great day in Paris!
