Week 2 of 2026

This week I had lots of time for knitting in the car -

I finished the body of the sweater I am knitting, and started the sleeves (knitting them two at a time).

The reason for all the knitting time is because-

we have driven west across the prairies,

through the foothills,

and the Rockies,

to the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia for a holiday.

Week 1 of 2026

Works in progress at the start of 2026 -

Handspun socks - knit two at a time, toe-up, with a broken rib pattern (6 stotckinette stitches and 2 garter stitches). This is my take along project so has been on the go for a while.

2026 cross stitch project - I started a Christmas one since I plan to take all year to finish it.

The pattern is Flying Santa from Lotus Lake Stitching on Etsy (the store is on a break so I can't link the pattern at the moment).

Handspun crochet project - the pattern is Hot Chili by Carmen Herffernan (link to the free pattern)

Handspun sweater - the pattern is the Hanstholm Sweater by PetiteKnit (link to paid for pattern on Ravelry).

I did sew another bra this week. I was sent the wrong fabric (it ended up being free), so I didn't have the matching elastic and findings for it, but it does the job.

The older chickens spend the night in the heated part of their coop (last year they didn't),

and the young ones spend the night in the unheated part of the coop.

The nesting boxes are in the heated part, so they all lay their eggs there (5 to 8 eggs a day).
