Ready for Free Motion Quilting!

First thing I want to mention is that I am hoping to teach another Free Motion Quilting class at our local school. If you are in the Winnipeg area and are interested in learning to free motion quilt your own quilts here is the LINK. Thanks!

I am ready for more free motion quilting! This weekend I finished piecing two projects.

This first one is a table runner that is about 22"x49". The blocks (15" and 6") are ones I pieced about 4 years ago and had set aside - I thought it was about time I did something with them.

This next project is 3" tumblers I cut with the GO! earlier in the year, when I was stash busting. I thought I would make a lap quilt - about 55"x74", but now that it is finished I am tempted to add some more borders and turn it into a twin bed quilt.

It is not like I don't have enough fabric.

I am also knitting with some more hand spun from the Tour de Fleece. This is a lovely scarf pattern called Lintilla.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!♥︎

Finishes

Since the Tour de Fleece I have been doing other things than spinning (cleaning my house was probably the best!).

I knit a cowl with yarn I spun from rolags (more photos on an older post here).

The pattern is from the Craftsy class Innovative Openwork Scarves. The class was good, and this was a fun, quick project to make.

Another cowl with yarn I dyed and spun during TdF. The pattern is a free pattern on Knitty called Dragon's Breath by Nim Teasdale. It is a lovely, easy pattern.

This is the first thing I have knitted with lace weight yarn that I spun, and I was so thrilled with the results. I have only started spinning such fine yarn recently when I bought a new spinning wheel - I think it is because it is a double drive, and has a more gentle pull than a Scotch tension wheel.

I also finished a pair of socks with yarn from Tanis Fiber Arts Year in Colour Club. This is the May colour called Willow. The yarn is so nice - her yarn is my favourite commercial yarn.

The pattern is Jaden Socks.

I have been sewing, but for a change it is practical sewing.

A pair of pyjama shorts for my son.

A little bag. The pattern is Bendy Bag by Lazy Girl Designs.

It makes a nice project bag (hand dyed and spun socks I am knitting).

I won a couple of prizes during Tour de Fleece and they came this week - from Fibre Detours (a Canadian online store) - where I buy my fibre for spinning (my new spinning wheel comes from there too). The owner, Samantha is so nice!

It wouldn't be a summer post without pictures of my garden - I love gardening!

One of the lilacs is blooming again, on this years growth - I have never seen this before.

I also want to mention how well two of my nieces (my twin brother's twin daughters) have done at the Western Canada Games - way to go Maddy and Emma! Cute article here.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!♥︎
